storage drives, graphics, networking, and other essential computer components. This allows users to run
an operating system designed for one type of device on a completely different device.
For example, a QEMU-based Android app can create a virtual computer and run lightweight versions of
Windows, Linux, or older operating systems on a smartphone or tablet. Limbo PC Emulator is a popular
example because it uses QEMU through a more user-friendly interface.
These emulators are useful for testing operating systems, running older software, learning about virtual
machines, and experimenting without changing the main operating system of the device. Users can configure
processor type, RAM, storage size, display resolution, and boot options.
QEMU-based emulation can be slower than running software directly on physical hardware because the app
must translate and simulate many hardware instructions. Performance depends heavily on the device,
